Mount Kerinci in Jambi Experiencing Eruption

See Jambi - On Tuesday 6 December 2022, at 08:22 WIB, Mount Kerinci Jambi experienced another eruption.

Monitoring results from Magma Indonesia, the eruption of Mount Kerinci with the height of the ash column was observed ± 700 meters above the peak (± 4505 meters above sea level).

The column of ash, the eruption of Mount Kerinci was observed to be gray to black with thick intensity to the southwest.

This eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 3 milli meters and a duration of 60 seconds.

Magma Indonesia provides recommendations regarding the eruption of Mount Kerinci as follows:

1. Communities around the Kerinci volcano and visitors/tourists are not allowed to climb the crater at the top of the Kerinci volcano within a radius of 3 kilometers from the active crater (people are prohibited from doing activities within the danger radius/KRB III).

2. We recommend that the flight path around the Kerinci volcano be avoided because at any time it still has the potential for an eruption of ash at a height that can disrupt the flight path.

It is known that, before the eruption of Mount Kerinci, previously Mount Semeru also experienced an eruption on December 4, 2022.

The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) raised the status of Mount Semeru from Alert (Level III) to Caution (Level IV).

PVMBG raised the status of Mount Semeru, as of 12.00 WIB, Sunday 4 December 2022.

As is known, the volcanic activity of Mount Semeru continues to increase, marked by the launch of APG or Hot Clouds Falling, PVMBG has also raised its status to level IV or be on alert.

The APG or hot clouds that fall from Mount Semeru continue until 06.00 WIB, Thursday 4 December 2022. ***
