Divorce cases in Jambi City will increase in 2022

SeeJambi - From 2022 to November, the Jambi Religious Court Class 1 A recorded an ever-increasing number of divorces.

Based on data from the Jambi Religious Court from January to November 2022, there were 1,065 divorce cases.

"Of the divorce cases submitted, 1,009 cases were granted, while the remaining 56 cases were revoked (by deliberation)," said Chairman of the Jambi Religious Court Class 1 A, Mhd. Noah when confirmed, Wednesday (30/11/22).

In the previous year or 2021 there were 1,277 divorce cases. Of these, 1,266 cases have been decided.

"So there are 11 remaining problems from last year," he said.

Meanwhile this year, from January to November 2022, the Jambi Religious Court has received 1,430 lawsuits.

"A total of 1,367 cases have been completed, the rest are in process," said Nuh.

Of the 1,069 divorce cases, 297 divorce cases were recorded. Meanwhile, 914 divorce cases were contested.

"So indeed more wives are suing, because their rights are not fulfilled," he explained.

Nuh also said, when viewed from the causes of divorce, the 922 divorce cases resulted in fights and fights.

Then economic factors and lack of responsibility, both wife and husband.

"There were also those who died on one hand, were physically disabled, gambled, drunkenness, domestic violence, and apostased (left Islam)," he said.

He said, there are also many couples who after marriage return to their original religion.

"So before getting married he converted to Islam (converted to Islam) then after a few years of marriage returned to his original religion. Automatically, what Islam doesn't want, he defends his beliefs. So it's just to convey his point," he said.

He added, not all divorce cases are granted. There are also several cases that were successfully resolved.

"So this Religious Court prioritizes reconciliation between the two parties. Of the total divorce cases filed, we managed to reconcile 56 cases," he concluded. ***
